Ellen DeGeneres Pens Open Letter to Supreme Court to Pass Prop 8 for Gay Marriage

With a touch of her trademark humor, Ellen DeGeneres tackles a very serious topic close to the talk show host's heart: gay marriage.

In an open letter posted to her website, Ellen reaches out to members of the Supreme Court, who will soon decide the fate of same-sex couples who wish to wed.

Pics: 'Amazing Race' Stars Cheer Up Bullied Gay Fan

"Portia and I have been married for 4 years and they have been the happiest of my life," she blogs of her longtime partner Portia De Rossi. "And in those 4 years, I don't think we hurt anyone else's marriage. I asked all of my neighbors and they say they're fine."

Ellen, who tied the knot in 2008 during a brief period when gay marriage was legal in California, now urges the powers that be to open their heart and extend the privilege to every gay couple.

"I hope the Supreme Court will do the right thing, and let everyone enjoy the same rights," Ellen writes. "It's going to help keep families together. It's going to make kids feel better about who they are. And it is time."

In closing the comedian writes, "In the words of Benjamin Franklin, 'We're here, we're queer, get over it.'"

Flashback: Frankie Muniz's 'Agent Cody Banks' Interview in 2003

While his acting career has since been reduced to guest appearances on TV series and various independent films, Frankie Muniz was once one of the hottest young actors in Hollywood. We take you back to when he was at the height of the career.

On this day in 2003, Muniz was doing press for his action film Agent Cody Banks, in which he played the titular character, co-starring alongside Hilary Duff and Angie Harmon.

PICS: Role Call: Who Got Hired In Hollywood?

The film was the third starring role for the then-17-year-old Muniz, who had risen to fame on the comedy series Malcolm in the Middle.

Among the many topics that he's asked about in the interview is the subject of dating, a usually enthusiastic topic for an adolescent, especially a famous one. However, Muniz reveals that he's not as smooth with the ladies as one might expect of an actor.

"I'm not good at talking to girls in the sense of me going up to a girl and starting a conversation," Muniz reveals," but if I get introduced to a girl or a girl comes up to me, I can carry conversation fine. ... I would never be able to go up to a girl and be like, 'Hey... What's up?' ... I'd be exactly like Cody (his character) was: I wouldn't know what to say."

Although one might assume that fame would guarantee a legion of girls for him to date, the teenage actor assesses his fame as more of a hindrance to facilitating relationships than a catalyst.

"The few times I have...introduced myself to someone, they're like, 'You're from "Malcolm in the Middle"!' and 'Oh, let me take a picture with you!' Then it's like, 'Well, that kind of ruined it,'" he divulges.

Nevertheless, Muniz, who is currently more involved in music as the drummer of indie rock band Kingsfoil than acting, maintains that recognition from strangers is generally rewarding--when he's not trying to court a girl, that is.

"I get recognized a lot, but that's not tough to me," he replies when prompted on getting recognized. "It's kind of odd, but it's fun. It's a good feeling when someone comes up to you and [says]...'I like your show' or 'I can't wait to see your new movie.' That just makes me happy that people are actually watching and people enjoy what I do."

Muniz went on to star in Malcolm in the Middle for three more years and eventually starred in a Cody Banks sequel a year later.

As for the future of his love life, Muniz was married in 2011.

Flashback: Pierce Brosnan Films 'GoldenEye' in Monte Carlo in 1995

"James Bond" has done wonders for the actors who've undertaken his character. After Timothy Dalton relinquished the role, Pierce Brosnan took on the MI6 agent for the film series' seventeenth film, GoldenEye. We take you back eighteen years ago, when Brosnan was filming his first Bond film.

On this day in 1995, Brosnan was in the luxurious Monaco town of Monte Carlo to film a few scenes for GoldenEye, including scenes on a ship in the Port of Monaco and inside the lavish Monte Carlo Casino.

PICS: 50 Years of James Bond

The city and the casino had previously been used as the setting for the 1983 Bond film Never Say Never Again starring Sean Connery.

Prior to heading to the on-location set to film scenes for his first film as James Bond, Brosnan basks in the lovely weather and luxury of Monte Carlo, located south of France in the Principality of Monaco.

"I've had a nice time," Brosnan says in the flashback. "I think I'm going to do some work right now, actually. I've been here for four days and I haven't done a thing. What more can a boy ask for? [It's] Monte Carlo."

RELATED: The Real Story Behind Bond, James Bond

While Brosnan had been acting for over a decade prior to taking on his Bond role in films such as Mrs. Doubtfire, his star had yet to rise prior to GoldenEye. On the verge of becoming a household name, Brosnan didn't think the role had or would change him.

"I think I'm still the same guy," he says. "I haven't seen the check yet, though."

That check would be a substantial one for Brosnan once the film came to fruition and raked in a hefty $352 million ($517 million, inflation adjusted) at the box office, with Brosnan taking home a reported $4 million for the film.

The Irish actor would go on to star in three more Bond films (Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day) and make a reported total of $41 million in the process.

Better yet, the role immortalized him as an actor and helped him land many starring roles to come.

Audrey Hepburn Galaxy Commercial

Dearly departed Audrey Hepburn is the latest celebrity to be resurrected by the ad industry so she can star in a new commercial.

In the spot for Galaxy (a British chocolate brand), Hepburn is sightseeing in Italy when her tour bus gets delayed. Luckily she stops across from a handsome stranger as her version of Moon River begins to play. What happens from there is classic Hepburn, but how did the ad come to be?

Hepburn's sons, who control her estate, authorized the use of her image for a fee. Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti say their mother would be "proud" of her new role, adding in a press release that she "often spoke about her love of chocolate and how it lifted her spirit."

Hepburn is not the first (nor will she be the last) dead celebrity who Madison Avenue has brought back to life thanks to advanced technology used in order to hawk a product. Chris Farley shilled for DirecTV, Fred Astaire danced for Dirt Devil, John Lennon rocked out for Rock Band, Gene Kelly grooved for Volkswagen, John Wayne sipped on Coors Light and Kurt Cobain wore his Doc Martens in heaven.

You'll also recall that Hepburn already starred in another modern day ad when The GAP had her pushing pants. Watch her latest work from beyond the grave.

Vanity Fair 2013 Oscars Party: Michael Douglas Flatters Catherine Zeta-Jones

Amid the many festivities of Sunday's Academy Awards was a performance by Catherine Zeta-Jones from Chicago, the musical that won her an Oscar a decade ago. Her husband, Michael Douglas, dazzled her with compliments for the impressive number.

"I can't believe it was ten years ago," the Wall Street actor said on the red carpet of the Vanity Fair after-party. "She looks as beautiful...and just amazing. That's a workout, and there she is. [She] looks great; the show stands up pretty good too."

Just before the stars capped the night with a celebration, they revealed their favorite moments of the ceremony. The consensus among the majority of the attendees was that they enjoyed musical performances like Zeta-Jones'.

"The music was fantastic, actually," said Daniel Day-Lewis, who won Best Actor for his role as Abraham Lincoln in Lincoln. "Adele's a bit of a favorite in our family."

Longtime actor Jon Voight, who has attended many an award show in his day, gave his opinion on why the show was a success.

PICS: Hit or Miss: The 2013 Oscars!

"I really enjoyed tonight. I thought [it] was nice [and] evenly spread out and all these wonderful, talented people getting attention," said Voight, father of actress Angelina Jolie. "...The speeches were great, and I was very moved by the final speech by Ben [Affleck]. ...It was very beautiful."

One of a handful of actors who completed an awards sweep by notching an Oscar in addition to SAG and Golden Globes Awards was Anne Hathaway, who won yet again for her supporting role in Les Misérables.

Although she had already won two major awards for her role, Hathaway claims she wasn't expecting to win the Oscar on Sunday.

Exclusive Clip: Kristin Chenoweth Held Hostage in 'Family Weekend'

Parenting can be very rewarding, but it certainly isn't such for Kristin Chenoweth's character in her film Family Weekend when she is held hostage by her own children. ETonline has your exclusive sneak peek.

The film, which features Matthew Modine as Chenoweth's husband, revolves around a 16-year-old girl (Olesya Rulin) who becomes so frustrated with her parents' lack of proper assistance and support that she decides to bring it upon herself to actualize change in their home.

PICS: Role Call: Who Got Hired In Hollywood?

As we see in the featured clip, the girl, with the help of her siblings, takes her parents hostage by tying them up to desk chairs. Chenoweth's character, unsurprisingly not pleased with being bonded to a chair, then attempts to sway her daughter to release them.

"You're father and I have been talking, and we need a new approach," she tells her daughter with a faux smile. "We are starting to see some of your frustrations. I know this sounds crazy, but we both think that we could do a better job at parenting this family."

Her daughter doesn't buy her bluff in the slightest, which quickly wipes the smile off Chenoweth's character's face.

Chenoweth, who recently starred in the action comedy Hit and Run, is set to co-host the Oscars pre-show this Sunday alongside Good Morning America's Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer.

Bradley Cooper on Awards Success of 'Silver Linings Playbook'

Oscar Sunday is fast approaching and gold statuettes are on the horizon for the film industry's finest. As Bradley Cooper and his Silver Linings Playbook cohorts got together before the big show, he reflected on the film's remarkable critical acclaim that may soon result in Oscars.

After being nominated for four Golden Globes and four SAG Awards, which resulted in two awards that both went to Jennifer Lawrence for her lead role, Silver Linings is up for a total of eight awards at the nearing Academy Awards.

PICS: Look Who's Presenting at The Oscars!

"We're overwhelmed and incredibly grateful," said Bradley Cooper, who has been nominated at all the major awards show for the film. "You never know what's going to happen. I mean, we knew when we were making the movie that it felt special every day and that we were getting something that felt very authentic."

Cooper went on to humbly distance himself from the success of the film by crediting the relationship between director and screenplay writer David O. Russell and his son, who faces mental deficiencies.

VIDEO: Olivia Munn & More Reveal Oscar Favorites

"These two guys, there was a story that they wanted to tell and then Jennifer and I were privileged enough to tell it," he said.

The gathering was sponsored by Vanity Fair, Barneys New York, and The Weinstein Company in support of The Glenholme School, which is devoted to young people who struggle with various forms of mental disorders.

Based on his own experiences with his son, who attends the school, Russell was inspired to adapt Matthew Quick's 2008 novel The Silver Linings Playbook to the big screen. The response to the film has been substantial not only from critics but from a variety of public figures.

VIDEO: Is Anne Hathaway Ready for the Oscars?

"Many people can learn from it. I've had so many people come up to me since we made the film," Russell said. "I've had so many families come forward. Movie stars, professional athletes, regular people saying, 'Thank you for the film.' The Vice President of the United States [has said], 'This film has opened up the dialogue about people facing these challenges.'"

Is Silver Linings Playbook on your Oscars ballot?

Oscars Flashback: Jack Nicholson 1998

There are only a few men in Hollywood that are known mononymously. Somewhere amid his dozens of films and the many awards that followed, Jack Nicholson need not be identified by last name. In 1998, Jack further etched his name into film history by joining a prestigious group of actors in Academy Awards history.

Nicholson went into the 1998 Oscars with his eleventh nomination, which in itself made history, as he was the second-most nominated actor in the ceremony's history behind only Katharine Hepburn.

VIDEO: Oscars Flashback '83: 8-Year-Old Drew Barrymore

However, that list was the lesser of two that he was chasing that night (and would later be dominated by Meryl Streep, who was granted seven nominations in a 21-year span to make a total of 17).

Nominations are an honor to receive, but a tangible, glistening statuette is what every nominee strives for. Nicholson's eleventh Oscar nomination came for his lead role in the romantic comedy As Good as it Gets, in which he starred alongside Helen Hunt.

He went on to win the award that night and joined an exalted group of actors with three Oscars for their individual performance. Only three actors (Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Walter Brennan) had achieved the feat before, and Meryl Streep has been the only one to join the group since.

VIDEO: Oscars Flashback '97: Cuba's Euphoric Response

"I like a career that covers three decades. It's nice," he says in the press room after winning the award. "[I] won one in the seventies, one in the eighties, and this is the nineties. I'm happy."

As for the performance that won him the Oscar, the three-awards-in-three-decades actor sets his pride aside and sticks to charismatic humility.

"All comparisons are odious, as my mother told me," he says when asked to compare this performance to his previous ones. "I always have a good time working. ...I've always worked with good directors; I choose material well; and after that, I think I'm lucky."

Think You Can Predict This Year's Oscar Winners?

Not lucky, just good ol' Jack.

'NCIS'Sneak Peek: Leon Vance Returns on 'Hereafter' Episode

The future of NCIS agency director "Leon Vance" (Rocky Carroll) was uncertain when his wife passed away and he took a leave of absence from the unit. In tonight's episode, the former director decides it's time to make his return, but not in the capacity he once held.

When Vance discovers a document that his wife had been hiding from him, he is set on path of confusion and anger that influences his decision to come back to the NCIS headquarters. However, he doesn't return to his prior position as director.

PICS: Stars Without Makeup!

"It's where he came from. He was a field agent, so getting back into that now and getting back into it in a more blue-collar manner has been a stretch for not only Rocky to play but also something different than he's been doing here," said Mark Harmon ("Leroy Gibbs"). "...Because it's different for him to play it, it becomes different for us to react against it."

As Vance's return seems inspired by his discovery of the document that he discovered that his wife been hiding from him, his motive to go back to work seems an impulsive decision, which questions his mental state.

VIDEO: Will Ziva & DiNozzo Form a Romance on 'NCIS'?

"There's also some concern from us as to whether or not he's in a mental place where he can be capable as an investigator with us," Sean Murray ("Timothy McGee") assessed.

While the rest of the NCIS team is glad to have him back at work, they have never worked with him in the field, which makes an interesting alteration of the dynamics of the work environment.

VIDEO: Meet the Actress Who'll Play Young Abby on 'NCIS'

"This is a totally different thing: from director to being on the field," noted Cote de Pablo ("Ziva David"). "It's actually an interesting episode because we've never seen him do that, first of all. We see him go through his own little battles as far as emotions go and what he's going through."

Check out the sneak peek of Vance's return in the video above, and watch the full episode of NCIS tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Although she had won a Young Artist Award for best actress for her performance in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Barrymore didn't receive a nomination for an individual award at her first Oscars despite the majority consensus that she should have.

However, the film, her second feature in her young acting career, was nominated for Best Picture at that year's Academy Awards.

With her sweet and sassy personality, 8-year-old Barrymore arrives to Hollywood's biggest celebration wearing a hot pink dress designed by her "momma" with a bow in her hair and a pearl necklace that was given to her by E.T. director Steven Spielberg.

"I don't know if it will win, but I'm hoping so much!" she says enthusiastically of the Oscar-nominated film.

"I'm not nominated," she replies with a smile when asked about her vote for Best Actress.

Having been immersed in fitness and exercise world for over twenty years, Jillian Michaels has heard it all when it comes to dieting. With the array of conflicting information out there, the Biggest Loser trainer discredits some of the most common myths about dieting.

"I hear so many thing out there that are just ridiculous: 'I eat small meals,' 'I fast two times a month,' or 'I've cut out carbs,'" said Michaels, who recently returned to The Biggest Loser. "I hear all this stuff and none of it's accurate. In fact, a lot of it will do harm to your metabolism."

Michaels has published a series of books and DVDs on healthily maintaining one's fitness in her career as a physical trainer, and has now published another book, Slim for Life: My Insider Secrets to Simple, Fast, and Lasting Weight Loss.

In the book, Michaels sets the record straight on widespread dieting fallacies and gave a few examples to ET in her interview.

"For example, eating small meals throughout the day [is] one of the absolute worst things you can do for your metabolism. The goal is to eat...four meals every four hours," she clarified. "Cleansing and fasting: another horrible thing you can do to your metabolism. [It] makes the body store fat. You cleanse the body by eating clean food, not by fasting your system."
